We all have that thing we do that calms our nerves, and makes the world seem smaller and more manageable. At least all of us should have that thing. We are busy and stressed all of the time, and there needs to be some time set aside for ME!
For some it’s a matter of getting out onto the golf course. I tried that, but that freaking little ball pisses me off too much for me to hope for any kind of zen…lol. Some like the movies. Others like to ride. I did that as well, but when my kids were born, I figured that I lost my right to kill myself…
But, just in case you don’t believe me, here you go – Patrisha and I on the back of a Honda VTX 1300…before the kids were born (about 7 years ago).
See that smile? There are very few things in life that can compare. Until, that is, you grow up a bit, get some things done, and can get into one of these:
Let me tell you – 1,300 CC on two wheels will seem sufficient, until you get into the Tesla. Man, instant torque, available at “0” RPM – WOW! There is no torque curve…there’s just a straight line going straight up into the stratosphere!
My Favorite Pastime
Well, I bet you can guess half of it. But, let me tell you anyway 🙂
The routine in the Leybovich household is that each night, around 7:30 PM, I help Patrisha get Aaron and Isabella ready for bed, and after I floss their teeth, tuck them in for the night, and give them both a kiss, Patrisha spends the next 30 to 45 minutes reading to them.
Do you know what this time is called – Daddy time! And can you guess what I do for the next half of an hour?!
That’s right – I get into Tesla and go for a drive. It calms my nerves. At least this is what I did until about 2 weeks ago. And then…
I discovered Periscope
Periscope is a fairly new app for mobile devices. It is owned by Titter, and it is basically a streaming video chat service. I became aware of Periscope for the first time when I followed Grant Cardone’s link on FaceBook, and thought it was pretty nifty. I’ve kept tabs on what Cardone is up to ever since I did his show The Cardone Zone. Then, to boot, I found out that my buddy Brandon Turner is a frequent Periscope user as well, and you know I had to try it…
Well, I don’t have a job, and I am not busy, but the only time to do video chats that I could possibly steel away is in the evening, during Daddy time – when I’m in the Tesla. I think I’ll call it Real Estate talk from the Tesla with JustAskBen. Catchy – no?
I’ve done a few scopes thus far. I talk about a range of subjects, everything from showing you how to charge the Tesla, to economic losses in real estate. What I like about Periscope is that it is instant – if there’s something on my mind, I am able to get it out immediately, which is different from sitting down to write an article.
What I don’t like is that it is quite difficult to gain an audience. This is like doing a webinar with no one on it. And while every time I do a scope more people jump on, the process is really too slow for my taste. Frankly, I want to reach more of you guys.
Won’t You Join Me?
I’m not sure if I like it yet. I’ll tell you if I like Periscope when I start getting 100 people on listening in on these video chats. So, won’t you join me?
I promise, guys, the content is good. It’s relaxed in that obviously I am not wearing a tie, nor am I trying to record something perfectly, but the content is great. And, you can engage during the scopes! Not only are you able to “like” things in real time, but you’re able to ask questions by typing them in…it’s pretty cool actually, and not something you can generally do on a podcast, or even a webinar.
If you are on Periscope, look me up: JustAskBen
And on Twitter (you can link to my periscope from there) also: JustAskBen
And if you’re not on Periscope currently, just download a free app to your mobile device. It’s available for iPhones and androids.
Let’s see if we can have some fun with this thing together 🙂
Are you in?
